PEP English Book 5 Unit 6 Part A Let’s learn & Let’s find out

Teaching aims :

1.      Enable Ss to understand the words “forest , lake , sky , cloud , mountain , river , path , grass , flower .”and guide Ss to master these word .

2.      Enable Ss to understand the sentence “There is/are … .”and help Ss use these sentences in proper sistuation .

3.      Help Ss understand the story of “What’s the matter ?”and act the dialogue out .

teaching importances :

1.      Enable Ss to understand the words “forest , lake , sky , cloud , mountain , river , path , grass , flower .”and guide Ss to master these word .

2.      Enable Ss to understand the sentence “There is/are … .”and help Ss use these sentences in proper sistuation .

3.      Help Ss understand the story of “What’s the matter ?”and act the dialogue out .

Headgeers , CAI , etc.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 warm-up

1.      greetings

T: hello , boys and girls , nice to meet you !

Ss : Nice to meet you , too .

2.      play a game

T : I say “A” , you say “B” , Ok ?

….

T : They are all magic letters today .

Step 2 presentation

1 teach “forest “

T writes a big letter “Y” on the blackboard .

T: It’s big letter “Y”.

T draws a tree .

T: What’s this now ?

S1: It’s a tree .

T draws many trees and asks , “ What is it now ?”

S2: forest .

T : Yes , it’s a green and big forest .

Guide Ss to read the word .

T : who can spell the word “ forest “ ?

S1: F-o-r-e-s-t . forest .  teacher writes the word on the blackboard .

CAI shows a giraffe eating leaves .

T: Look , there is a giraffe in the forest . T writes “there is … .” on the blackboard and guides Ss to read “There is …. “

Teacher puts the headgeer on his own head .

T : Hi ! I’m a giraffe . The forest is big . I like eating grass in the forest .   T does the actions .

T and Ss make a dialogue .

CAI shows more pictures and Ss practice with deskmates .

A: Look , there is a … in the forest .

B: Hi ! I’m a … . The forest is … . I like … in the forest .

2.teach “lake”

T writes a small “o” and big letter “O” on the blackboard .

T draws a lake with the big letter “O” .

T : What’s this ?

S1: It’s a lake .

Teacher guides Ss to read the new word . And writes the word on the blackboard .

CAI shows a duck in the lake .

T : Look , there is a duck in the lake . Can you act like a duck ?

S1: Hi ! I’m a duck . The lake is clean . I like swimming in the lake . T guides Ss to do the actions .

Teacher chooses one student to practice with .

Pairwork .

3.teach “sky”

T draws the sun with the small letter “o” .

T : it's the sun .

T : Where is the sun ?

S1: It’s in the sky .

T: What colour is the sky ?

S1: It’s blue .

CAI shows a bird , a butterfly and a bee in the sky . Teacher asks Ss to pairwork and product .

4.teach “cloud”

T : it’s the small letter “e” .   Teacher draws a cloud with “e” .

T : How many clouds can you see ?

S1: there are four clouds .

Teacher writes “There are … .” on the blackboard .

5. teach “mountain”

T : These are mountains.   “M”

CAI shows four monkeys .

T : Look , there are four monkeys in the mountains .

T asks 4 students to act “Hi ! We’re monkeys . The mountains are beautiful . We like swinging in the mountains .

T asks Ss to practice “2 horses”, “3 tigers” , “2 cats” .

6.Teach “river”

T draws a river with letter “S” .

T guides Ss to read the word in pairs .

T : Guess ! What’s in the river ?

S : ….

CAI shows pictures and Ss say “there are some … .”

7.teach “path”

T draws a path with “Z”

T : What’s this ?

S1 : It’s a path .

Teacher guides Ss to read the word and writes the word on the blackboard .

8.teach “grass”

T draws grass with “r”

T : What’s this ? It’s grass .

T : What colour is the grass ?

S1: It’s green .

T : Where is the grass ?

S1 : ….

9.teach “flower”

T draws a red flower with “c” .

T : I like red flowers . What about you ?

S1 : I like yellow flowers .  Teacher draws a yellow flower .

… .

T : Now , It’s a nature park .

T : What’s in the nature park ?

S1 : There is a … in the nature park .

S2: There is a … in the nature park .

… .

Step 3 practise

T : Look , there are four pictures . What differences can you see ?

T : In picture 1 , There is a ….

   In picture 2 , There is not a … .

T : Now this group talk about Picture 1 and Picture 3 , this group talk about picture 1 and Picture 4 .

Step 4 Consolidation and extension

1.T : Guess ! What’s in the nature park ?

 S1: It’s a bird .

CAI shows the story and follow the tape to read .

2.Suddenly the nature park was polluted by factories .

T guides Ss to read the dialogue .

3. Act the dialogue in groups .

Step 5 homework

1. Act the story in groups .

2.How to protect the environment ? Please make several English tips of good ideas .
